To avoid leaving things purely theoretical, I am happy (and anxious) to announce the practical version of some of the ideas publicly circulated these past few months - Goodlegal, the company's focus is to develop the Goodlegal Platform - a one-stop shop for all legal-related matters.
The platform will provide any company with a flexible and agile Legal Infrastructure Platform (LIP), facilitating compliance and securing growth, irrespective of geography.
The goal, as you can suspect, is to build good legal and to finally free legal from obscure conservativism, useless formalism, and inaccessibility. As I concluded in my latest post:
"Everyone should have the right to freely access minimum legal technology features and industry standard content for pursuing legitimate business outcomes. This is how meaningful change will happen with the help of legal technology and professionals."
What I mean by "minimum legal technology features" - is that set of viable free features provided in the platform that would allow any legal or non-legal professional to take care of a company's legal or compliance-related matters in a digital form, thus avoiding the mistakes a company makes as it goes through its various growth cycles.
What I mean with "industry standard content" - is that type of content that can and should be already freely shared with legal and non-legal professionals in an "open source" manner so that a real community focused on simplifying and improving legal is created and has the right framework to collaborate going forward.
What I mean by "meaningful change" - is to empower anyone to succeed in their business objectives without holding them back just because the legal industry and technology are not in sync with the more innovative industries and business requirements. Any company should have a mechanism to understand what legal requirements they must comply with and how to meaningfully do it with the right legal infrastructure platform supporting their operations.
These are some guiding principles that triggered the need to create the Goodlegal Platform. The Community version of the Goodlegal Platform will help with all of the above, both the community users and commercial ones (meaning those users requiring additional features which exceed the Community supported ones).
Welcome to the Goodlegal vision; stay tuned for market release and enroll for beta testing here (it can be a great way to steer the product in the right direction to address your main issues).
Don't just be legal, be Goodlegal.
